What Is the Process of Getting Clear Aligners?

Thinking about straightening your teeth without metal braces? Here's how clear aligner treatment works, step by step.

What Is the Process of Getting Clear Aligners?

Have you been thinking about clear aligners? You're not alone. Clear aligners have become one of the most popular cosmetic options over the last few years, because they make it easy to straighten stubborn teeth without anyone noticing.

How clear aligners work

Clear aligners use a series of clear plastic trays to gently move your teeth into place. Just like braces, they work by applying steady pressure to your teeth, only without brackets and wires.

Your trays are made from the information we gather at your first appointment: a visual exam, x-rays and impressions of your teeth. We use the same information to plan every step of your treatment.

What treatment looks like

You'll switch to a new set of trays about every two weeks, in the order Dr. Mark recommends, and wear them 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results. Because the trays are clear, you can watch your teeth get straighter as time goes on.

More than a prettier smile

  • Trays come out for brushing and flossing, so it's easier to keep teeth and gums healthy.

  • You take them out to eat, so there are no food restrictions during treatment.

  • Fewer office visits. Checkups are usually needed only about every six weeks.

  • Clear aligners can treat some bite problems, not just crooked teeth.

If you want to straighten your teeth without a mouth full of metal, ask us if clear aligners are right for you. Request a consultation or call 561-316-4260.
