Veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain shells that cover the front of your teeth, fixing chips, gaps, stains and uneven shapes all at once.
Each veneer is custom made, for shape and color, by a professional dental lab and bonded to the front of your tooth.
Veneers are very durable and last many years. Like most dental work, they aren't permanent and may someday need replacing, but with good brushing, flossing and regular visits, they'll keep you smiling for a long time.
Little or no numbing is needed for most patients.
We talk about the look you want and check that your teeth and gums are healthy.
We lightly buff the front of each tooth, take an impression and choose your shade together.
On your second visit, we clean each tooth and bond your veneers with a special light.
You'll get simple care instructions. Brush, floss and keep your regular checkups.
Porcelain veneers are one of the fastest ways to transform a smile, but they're also a decision worth understanding fully before you commit. Here's a straightforward guide to what veneers are, who they work best for, what the two-visit process involves, and how to keep them looking great for years.
A veneer is a thin, custom-made shell of dental porcelain that's bonded to the front surface of a tooth. Think of it as a new face for the tooth. Because porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel, a well-made veneer is very hard to tell from a real tooth. Each one is shaped and shaded specifically for you, so the result is designed to suit your face, your other teeth, and your preferences, not a one-size-fits-all look.
Veneers are especially good at handling several cosmetic issues at once. They can cover chips and small cracks, close minor gaps, disguise deep stains that whitening can't lift, and even out teeth that are slightly crooked, short, or worn. If your main concern is alignment rather than shape or color, clear aligners may be the better route, and we'll tell you honestly which approach fits your goals.
It usually takes two visits to our Jupiter office. At the first, we plan the look together, gently reshape a very thin layer of enamel so the veneer sits flush, take digital impressions, and fit temporary veneers. A dental lab then handcrafts your porcelain. At the second visit, we check the fit, shade, and bite, make any refinements, and bond the veneers permanently. Most patients walk out the same day amazed at the difference.
The preparation step is done with local anesthetic, so you shouldn't feel discomfort during the visit. Afterward, some people notice mild sensitivity to hot and cold for a few days, which fades on its own. There's no real downtime. You can eat and go about your day normally, though it's smart to avoid very hard or sticky foods while you're getting used to the feel of your new teeth.
Cost depends on how many teeth are involved and the complexity of your case, so it varies quite a bit from person to person. Because veneers are usually considered cosmetic, most insurance plans don't cover them, though there are exceptions when a tooth is damaged. We'll give you a personalized quote after your consultation, and you can explore our financing options or our in-house dental plan to make treatment more manageable.
With good care, porcelain veneers commonly last ten to fifteen years or more. Brushing, flossing, regular checkups, and a night guard if you grind your teeth all help protect your investment. If you've been hiding your smile in photos or putting off a change you've wanted for years, a consultation is simply a conversation about what's possible. There's no obligation to move forward.
