Sometimes removing a tooth is the kindest way to stop pain and protect your smile. We make it quick, comfortable and clear from start to finish.
We always try to save your natural teeth first. When that isn't possible, a simple extraction can relieve pain or prepare you for your next treatment.
We take x-rays first so we know exactly how to remove the tooth safely.
A local anesthetic means you shouldn't feel pain. Sedation is available if you're nervous.
The tooth is carefully loosened and lifted out. Stitches are placed only if needed.
We'll send you home with gauze and clear, simple instructions for a smooth recovery.
Feeling sick the week before, or on the day of, your extraction? Please call us at 561-316-4260, as we may need to reschedule.
Nobody looks forward to having a tooth removed, but when it's the right call, a modern extraction is far gentler than most people expect. Here's when extraction is recommended, what the procedure feels like, how to recover comfortably, and how to think about replacing the tooth afterward.
We always try to save a natural tooth first. Extraction becomes the best option when a tooth is too decayed or fractured to restore, when advanced gum disease has loosened it, when an infection can't be cleared with a root canal, or when crowding needs relief before orthodontic treatment. Wisdom teeth that are impacted, painful, or damaging neighboring teeth are another common reason.
First, the area is thoroughly numbed with local anesthetic. You'll feel pressure but not pain. For a simple extraction, the tooth is gently loosened and removed in a few minutes. Teeth that are broken at the gumline or still below the surface may require a small incision, and our on-site specialists handle more complex cases right here in our Jupiter office. Nitrous oxide is available if you're anxious.
Most patients are back to normal activities within a day or two. Expect some soreness and mild swelling for a few days, managed with over-the-counter pain relief and a cold compress. Bite gently on gauze until the bleeding stops, stick to soft foods, and avoid straws, smoking, and vigorous rinsing for the first few days so the protective blood clot stays in place. We'll send you home with written instructions and a number to call with questions.
For most teeth other than wisdom teeth, yes. A gap lets neighboring teeth drift, affects your bite, and lets the jawbone in that area shrink over time. Options include a dental implant, a bridge, or a partial denture. It's worth discussing replacement before the extraction, because in some cases an implant can be placed at the same visit or the socket can be preserved with a small graft.
Cost depends on whether the extraction is simple or surgical and on any additional steps like bone grafting. Dental insurance typically covers extractions at least in part. We'll verify your benefits and give you a personalized quote before treatment, and our financing options and in-house dental plan are there if you need them.
If you have a badly broken tooth, ongoing pain, swelling, or a wisdom tooth that's bothering you, don't put it off. An infected tooth won't heal on its own and can spread. A consultation lets us confirm whether extraction is truly necessary, talk about alternatives, and plan for a comfortable experience.
